BREAKING: Jonathan suspends Lamido Sanusi​,​ appoints Acting CBN Governor

Having taken special notice of reports of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria and other investigating bodies, which indicate clearly that Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s tenure has been characterized by various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct which are inconsistent with the administration’s vision of a Central Bank propelled by the core values of focused economic management, prudence, transparency and financial discipline;
Being also deeply concerned about far-reaching irregularities under Mallam Sanusi’s watch which have distracted the Central Bank away from the pursuit and achievement of its statutory mandate; and
Being determined to urgently re-position the Central Bank of Nigeria for greater efficiency, respect for due process and accountability, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has ordered the immediate suspension of Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from the Office of Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
President Jonathan has further ordered that Mallam Sanusi should hand over to the most senior Deputy Governor of the CBN, Dr Sarah Alade who will serve as Acting Governor until the conclusion of on-going investigations into breaches of enabling laws, due process and mandate of the CBN.

British-Nigerian Actor, Chiwetel Ejiofor  has just picked up his first major award.

At the EE British Academy Film Awards, 2014 which held Sunday, 16th February 2014, the Actor beat Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale and Tom Hanks for the Leading Actor award.
In his acceptance speech, Chiwetel who attended the event with his model girlfriend, Sari Mercer, thanked the Director, ’12 years a slave’ Steve McQueen, the cast of the movie especially Michael Fassbender, his mom and late dad.

Marriage turns sour in Enugu as police officer kills IMT student

Tension is rapidly building up in Ibagwa-Nike in Enugu-East Local Government Area of Enugu State, following the alleged killing of an undergraduate by a policeman on Saturday.
Family sources alleged that the 27-year-old student of the Institute of Management and Technology, IMT, Enugu, Mr. Nnabuike Nnaji, was shot dead by yet to be identified policeman during a traditional marriage ceremony.
When DailyPost visited the community, many smashed vehicles were still on the roads, while the police vehicle allegedly set on fire by some angry youths of the community had been removed.
At the house of the diseased, a community of sympathizers gathered while his father, Chief Patrick Nnaji spoke with a grief stricken tone.

Jonathan Pays Private Visit To Akran Of Badagry

President Goodluck Jonathan, on Monday, paid a private visit to the Akran of Badagry, De-Wheno Aholu Menutoyi. 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the President arrived at the palace of the monarch in Badagry, Lagos State, at about 10.35 a.m. and was received by the Akran and the Chiefs in Council.

Welcoming the President to the palace, the Chiefs in Council poured libation, using water, alligator pepper and wine.
They also offered prayers for the President, his administration and for the peace of the nation.
After the welcome ceremony, the Akran and the President retired to an inner room in the palace, where they held private discussions for about 35 minutes.
