St. Godwin Ochola on the move

As ace movie repoter and society editor of The Sun Publishing Ltd Azuh Amatus would say, “Idoma land in Benue State is fast carving a niche as the birth place of several stars in the nation’s entertainment terrain. And having produced many popular artistes in the music industry like: Bongos Ikwue, Tuface Idibia, Blackface, TerryG and a host of others, they have now also re-enacted the same feat in the motion picture industry, globally known as Nollywood.

In the Idoma movie industry today there are few names you cannot just jettison, these include: Johnson Agada, Peter Otulu, Chris Odeje, Sunny Okwori, Ernest Igah, Moses Okpe and Pamela Peters. But a certain dashing young man whose name would not just go into oblivion is Godwin Ochola, a young producer-cum-actor and head-honcho of the Otukpo-based St. Godwin’s Production of the Oundu Aje Fame.

Having dazzled and directed a number of both English and Indigenous films to his credit, the Ochobo-born Benue State entertainer is almost going to the apex of stardom on the entertainment platform. As you are perusing, the award-wining producer has alongside some Otukpo-based entertainers are working round the clock to ensure the local industry gets to the appropriate quarters. But the question from fns is, when is he taking his products beyond the home front…

Goddy, over to you

CIDA mourns Audu Achigili

As Nigeria continues to mourn the exit of frontline entertainment enthusiast and secretary to the Benue State Government, Dr Audu Achigili, the Conference of Idoma Artistes (CIDA) has commiserated with the deceased family.

Speaking during the meeting of the association in Lagos recently, the President of Association of Idoma Movie Makers and director of Manex Film Production, Mr Johnson Agada said that the demise of Achigili is great loss to the industry, nothing that the Idoma movie sector would continue to remember his contribution and efforts to the development of the industry and Benue State in particular. “I must really confess that the death of Dr Achigili is a national lost, until his death, he was strongly behind the Idoma movie industry. We’ll miss him dearly. I just want to cease this opportunity on behalf of all Idoma entertainers to commiserate with the family he left behind, may God almighty give them the fortitude to bear the lost." He added.

Speaking further, the veteran producer-cum director prayed for such history never to repeat itself.

It would be recalled that Dr Audu Achigili died fortnight ago in an auto crash in Igbor Gwer Local Government Area along Makurdi/ Otukpo highway in the Benue State. The deceased who was travelling to Otukpo for the new year celebration with his daughter and his relation died on the spot when a luxury bus which was heading towards Makurdi, had a head-on collision with his car. It was however gathered that his daughter and the driver sustained not too severe injuries.

In other twist, Agada who during the meeting urged those in habit of splitting the industry to take caution, also denounced the existence of another association called Idomanollywood apart from the one he governs. According to him, "I enjoined all moviemakers in the land to put hands on deck in other for us to take the young but promising industry to the greater heights, we don’t know anything called Idomanollywod and we’ll never know it, the industry remains indivisible. Those behind this should be careful hence disciplinary action would be taken." He warned. -
